IRON LUNG Sexless//No Sex CD
(Prank)
Some bands want to create a mood with flowing riffs and steady rhythms, while others want to get your blood pumping and bring out the spastic in you. Iron Lung are definitely part of the latter category and don't have much time over for steady rhythms. With that said I have to state that they're not totally out of control, just that their intense violent hardcore/power violence are very aggressive and in your face, always on the brink of chaos. But to not paint a completely wrong picture here I better add that they do have their slower parts as well, especially in the title track and the last track "Cancer" which are also the two tracks that are over two minutes long.
The first times I listened to this it was the fast stuff that grabbed my attention, but after a while it was the slower stuff that got the upper hand. Now after enough listens to get the full picture I find it to be a pretty even battle from start to finish, with a slight advantage for the spastic outbursts. The twenty tracks on here last for twenty-one minutes so at whatever speed they're operating in at the time they don't leave much room for unnecessary fillers on this power violent sludge fest.
Personally I'm not completely persuaded by the disc as a whole, but there are enough good parts for me to give it an overall good grade. [Krogh - February 26, 2008]

ADRENICIDE Kill CD
Endless Brutality of Men Records

A site for self development for the post modern hippie discusses the concept of when “enough is enough”: “Enough can describe quantity or quality, depending on the subject or object”. Adrenicide released “Kill” last year as their fourth album in three years, and to top it off, the released yet another full length last year. To put it bluntly, on this release they clearly excel in quantity, and fail miserably in terms of quality.

VON BØØM Punkrockterrorists CD
F.D.A. Rekotz

I was pretty impressed with the material Von Bøøm presented on their split with Motorbreath and any fears of a band that returns after two decades and completely ruin any heritage was soon washed away. What this means is that I approach this CD in a different manner as I already know they can deliver, so this time I expect quality instead of just hope they won’t loose their dignity...

ASSASSINATORS/D.S.B. split 7”
Alerta Antifascista/Halo of Flies Records

At first look this might seem as an odd pairing of bands, and I agree. I still think it’s somewhat strange, but that doesn’t stop it from being two good bands for the price of one so it’s really a good deal.

Danish Assassinators continue to deliver the melodic punk they’ve proven to be very good at in the past.

TERRORSTAT/TWISTED SYSTEM split CD
Endless Brutality of Men

Eighteen tracks in thirty-six minutes and a Swedish - American crustcore team-up with two bands that I think would have benefited from doing separate releases.

When a bands’ style is described as raw, rampant crustcore with a couple of heavy mid-tempo breakdowns it could just as well be a way of tip-toeing around the fact that they don’t have so much to offer as it could mean...
